New Pop Flavors

I've Tried: Part 1

By: Kristen Zeimetz

Mtn Dew Maui Burst

I believe this came out a couple of years ago, but I think it’s “new” in can form. Anyway, it’s pineapple flavored, and though I love pineapples and pineapple-flavored anything, this one falls short for me. Perhaps I expected something more exciting from the Dew, and that’s probably because I have been spoiled by Baja Blast. It’s good, but not memorable. C

Canada Dry Fruit Splash

I was super excited to try this and it didn’t disappoint. I’m a huge fangirl of ginger ale in general, and this also reminds me of two of my other favorite pops: Cherry 7-Up and Cranberry Sierra Mist. The flavor of this is cherry and I thought cherry ginger ale actually wasn’t a new thing, but either way, it’s fantastic. I normally drive diet pop, but diet ginger ale is awful, so I’ll pound the extra calories for this. A

Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut

I’m obsessed with (diet) Dr Pepper. I would drink it all day, everyday. When they came out with the cherry flavor, I was stoked. Then they came out with the “berry” which I thought was crap. I also wasn’t all that crazy about the cream soda or strawberries and creme, so I was hesitant with this one. I like coconut candy, but generally coconut-flavored beverages make me gag. But this is pretty fire. It does have a very creamy taste to it. The coconut hits you first, then the Dr Pepper. The aftertaste hits me as flat, though, probably just because as mentioned, I like diet pop, but overall damn tasty. B

Mtn Dew Baja Laguna Lemonade

Anything that has baja in its name, I already figure I’m going to be obsessed with, and this one is really, really good. It’s actually mango lemonade and it tastes like it, too. You also get the hint of lemonade and the Baja Blast. It’s like lemonade, Arizona Mango, and Baja Blast all mixed up and it’s top tier. A+
